Deryl Davis, PhD

Deryl Davis (PhD, University of Glasgow, Theology and Arts) is Adjunct Professor of Religion, Arts, and Spirituality at Wesley Theological Seminary and Coordinator of the seminary's Dadian Gallery and Artists in Residence program (A-I-R). Deryl is a theater artist, culture writer, and film producer whose work has appeared on PBS, NPR, and in a number of regional and national magazines. With Journey Films, he was a producer and writer on five documentary films on religion for Public Television, including the Regional Emmy Award-winning Backs Against the Wall: The Howard Thurman Story (2018). He is a writer and producer on the forthcoming four-part Public Television series Christianity at a Crossroads, to be released in summer 2026. At Wesley, Deryl teaches courses in drama, literature, film, and contemplative spirituality. He is the author of Robert Pollok's 'The Course of Time': The Rise and Fall of a Christian Epic (Routledge 2023) and co-editor of the forthcoming volume The Dramatized Word: Theology, Philosophy, and Literature in Conversation. Deryl is at work on a book about the poet T. S. Eliot and the Christian imagination.
