Stations of the Cross: The Weight of Dust

Dust. Stardust. Soil of Eden. Sawdust. House dust. Rust. Dust of dry clay. The psalmist says: Remember that you are dust; from dust you came and to dust you will return.

Dust has weight. It is the weight of being human and living a human life, of having choices and dead ends, of consequences both hopeful, and harmful. Dust carries the high cost and the great adventure of our humanity.

Jesus came to share our dust, to share our humanity, not just the possibilities but also the pain. Jesus came to carry in community with us all, the weight of being human.

Art and Text: Images, Concepts, and Insights
An exhibition curated by Teresia Bush for CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts)

A Reception for the Artists will be held on January 29, 2009, 5:30 to 7:30pm

Art and Text has its framework in conceptual art or idea, a form of contemporary expression in which concepts or ideas take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns, where images may be reliant upon text—actual or implied. By emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between image and words, works will be diverse in nature, yet to the viewer, perceptibly united by the tangibility of faith.
