The paintings in this exhibition of "Angels: A Celestial Visitation", continue my ongoing search for beauty and truth, a personal vision of love and purity in human form. Influenced by Medieval and Renaissance Art, I am challenged to explore the possibilities and variations of angelic forms in modern terms. Through the pictorial tools of color. pattern, light and space, each painting gives birth on canvas to a unique transformative experience for this artist, guided by the divine hand and an inner vision of these celestial beings. "The image of the Angel in art emerges from a creative interplay between traditional canons-----and the personal vision of the artist.....In the resonances created by this paradox, the Angel reveals itself." --- Peter Lamborn Wilson, Angels, Thanes and Hudson , 1980 , p.28. January 22 - March 4, 2009 A Reception for the Artists will be held on January 29, 2009, 5:30 to 7:30pm Art and Text has its framework in conceptual art or idea, a form of contemporary expression in which concepts or ideas take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns, where images may be reliant upon text—actual or implied. By emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between image and words, works will be diverse in nature, yet to the viewer, perceptibly united by the tangibility of faith. March 16 - May 15, 2009 Works by Kip Deeds, Sudhir Kumar Duppati, Robert Peppers, Karen Schiff, Ellen Weiner, Tim Holmes, James Quentin Young, Kathy Hettinga, and Catherine Kapikian. Summer 2009
