This Saving
Cup, 2005/6 For many years of "Seeing" as an artist, I have intuited a mystical connection between matter and spirit and the immensity of the universe in communion with the Creator. This intuition was reinforced after I read THE DIVINE MILIEU and "Mass on the World" by Teilhard de Chardin. I began to understand at a deeper level the transformative grace in the sacrifice of the Mass for a suffering universe ascending into glory with the Cosmic Christ. The paintings "Redemption" and "This Saving Cup" were born from these musings as inspired explorations in paint, using the pictorial tools of color, light and space with the chalice and Host as 'ciphers' in the search for truth and beauty. I invite the viewer to ponder these meditations and perhaps discover in themselves a new Reality. "Into the chalice I shall pour all the sap which is to be pressed out this day from the earth's fruit." Teilhard de Charcfin, "Mass on the World"
