"I want my art to bring the holy to the world.
I want my wearable art garments to give dignity to the wearer.
I want my work to be a source of healing the spirit."

the Weight of Dust

Clay Tiles and Poems
by Kathryn Cramer Brown

Dust. Stardust. Soil of Eden. Sawdust. House dust. Rust. Dust of dry clay. The psalmist says: Remember that you are dust; from dust you came and to dust you will return.

Curator’s Statement

As the Spring semester draws to a close, Wesley Theological Seminary celebrates the arts with an exhibition drawn from the life of our own community. Whether the artwork was made by  the Dean, first-year students, graduates, long-time staff members, or Artists-in-Residence, it speaks to the way art has become a conversation partner in the theological conversation.(more)

Body of Christ
A Juried Exhibition

Sponsored by the
Washington Theological Consortium

In the last twenty-five years, art that explicitly engages Christian faith has become increasingly visible both in the church and in the secular world. During that same period, many institutions of theological education have come to recognize that art is both a record of what earlier generations have believed about the nature of human life and its relationship to the divine, and a means of accessing our own understandings and emotions. Experiences with and conversations about the arts can deepen our liturgical and devotional life, and perhaps even help us to bridge denominational divides. The "Body of Christ" exhibition is one way to foster such experiences and conversations.

Painting is my passion.  I enjoy working thematically in semiabstract style, using bold dramatic colors.   In my art I strive to have a dimension beyond the aesthetic, where by my imagination the art stimulates a vibrant communication with viewers through the artistic expressions.  Themes in my paintings are inspired by Bible Study, Social issues, Nature and by my travels. (more)
